Applications Software Engineer

Description:Global Science & Technology, Inc., a fast growing high technology firm, is seeking an Applications Software Engineer to support the NOAA CLASS Project.

The CLASS program supports the mission of the NOAA’s Satellite and Information Service to archive and disseminate environmental data. The development of CLASS is a long term, evolutionary process that incorporates current and new environmental data into the CLASS architecture. GST has been supporting the NOAA/CLASS mission since 2001 by providing highly effective, secure and reliable computing and telecommunications resources, while also identifying methods for applying information technology to improve mission performance and reduce total program costs.

Position Summary: Responsible for maintaining and configuring the BMC Remedy Action Request System (ARS) and any associated applications or components as well as the Knowledge Tree (KT) sites.


Duties:Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to the following:
•Installing BMC Remedy applications.
•Modify server settings and resolving server issues for Remedy ARS and KT.
•Setting up and maintaining access control for Remedy ARS and KT.
•Create server objects and applications for Remedy ARS.
•Update the application as business requirements change for Remedy ARS.
•Assist users with Remedy ARS and KT related problems.

Qualification/Requirements:
•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instruction.
•Ability to respond knowledgeably and promptly to questions from users.
•Ability to install, configure, and maintain applications using BMC Remedy ARS and KT.
•Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions, both oral and written.

Other Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
•AIX, Linux
•Database (Informix or My SQL)
•C++, Java, Perl
•BMC Remedy (Strong plus, not required)






Qualifications:Education/Training/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BS); with two or more years related experience and/or training in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Recent graduates with strong academic records with also be considered.

Design, code, test and maintain software as part of a team. Independently implements solutions that may include configuration of third-party applications or libraries. Uses industry-standard software design best practices to build reliable, efficient, maintainable applications.
