Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, is seeking an experienced Junior-Mid level Systems Administrator/Engineer. This position will be based at our Headquarters office in Greenbelt, MD.
The successful candidate will use their skills and experience in systems administration and systems engineering for UNIX/Windows environments to assist in supporting the IT requirements of GST Headquarters and its remote offices. This includes assisting with and as required managing:
•Operating system installations and patching,
•Application installations and patching (App Servers, DB Servers),
•Network and VLAN configurations,
•Setting up VPNs and security controls,
•Backup processes and environments,
•Systems monitoring and alerts, and
•Supporting customer’s virtual environments.
In addition, the candidate should be well-versed in UNIX and Windows scripting to automate installations, configurations, and management of virtual resources (in the Cloud) that support scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
•Contribute to and assist with GST’s IT infrastructure support team
•Assist with and contribute to the administration of the IT infrastructure including System Engineering and Systems Administration operations and maintenance
•Assist management with analyses related to the design, development, and integration of hardware, software, man-machine interfaces and all system architecture requirements to provide an integrated systems IT solution for GST
•Assist with the development, evaluation, and implementation of GST’s IT Life Cycle plans, policies, and procedures
•Assist with the development and management of the virtual machine resources for the GST’s solution
•Configure and test scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery
•Support customer’s current IT architecture and the development of future initiatives including cloud servers and environments with installations, configurations, patching, network and VLAN configuration, security configuration, db and file backups, systems monitoring, and alerts
•Assist with the configuration of site-to-site VPNs for customer environments
•End user support including desktops, printers, wireless, and mobile devices
•Assist with and develop automate operations management by developing scripts as needed.
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 2-4 years of relevant professional experience.
•Solid technical skills in the areas of Systems Administration/Engineering and Networking including Linux/CentOS, Windows Server, Cisco, Security, etc.
•Experience in Virtualization including VMware VSphere version 5.0 (version 5.1 is a strong plus), VMware vCenter, iSCSI storage, Starwind Software, Veaam products, VMware partnership, TAP, NFR licenses, IUL, etc.
•Ability to lift computer equipment weighing up to 60 pounds

•Must be able to work in a team environment
•Must have the ability to work on multiple on-going projects simultaneously
•Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
